Uwezo recognized in Tanzania Newspapers, Guardian UK and WB Strategy

Uwezo is increasingly being recognized as an effective way to develop citizen engagement and improve accountability in the delivery of public services. The launch of Uwezo 2011 in Dar es Salaam last week generated stories in Nipashe, Guardian and Daily News, which highlight the usefulness of the research. The Povertymatters blog of the Guardian UK says Uwezo exposed poor education standards in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and links Uwezo to Aser in India, which inspired and supported the development of Uwezo in East Africa. Uwezo is even mentioned in the World Bank´s new Africa Regional Strategy as an example for how the Bank wants to see citizens‘ voice and social accountability strengthened.
