Are Our Children Learning? Uwezo launches powerful report

As a parent, how would you feel when you discover that your child in Standard 7 cannot read Standard 2 level Kiswahili? And how would you react when you learn half the children who complete primary school cannot read in English at all? These and other serious findings were presented by Uwezo Tanzania in its Annual Learning Assessment Report Tanzania 2010 that was launched on 21 September, 2010. The study assessed literacy and numeracy skills of over 40,000 children in over 20,000 households -- the largest survey of its kind.
