Tanzania needs an Education Commission

Dr Azaveli Lwaitama suggests that Tanzania needs a new Presidential Commission on Education. Writing in The Citizen, he argues that the Commission should oversee education reform in Tanzania to address issues raised by Uwezo's latest findings on poor literacy and numeracy rates among primary school children in East Africa. He also claims that "glaring quality and equity differences" between Tanzania and higher-performing Kenya and Uganda could slow down the East African Community integration process.
