Optimism surrounds OGP Tanzania

An op-ed in the London Evening Post says that the Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a step towards good governance in Tanzania. The country was one of six chosen in Africa to be involved in the initiative, spearheaded by the American and Brazilian governments. Read the article by Dorosella Bishanga here.

Twaweza Head Rakesh Rajani was interviewed by Susan Crawford on his involvement with OGP. He explains that ‘open government matters even more in East Africa because the stakes are so high- a matter of life and death.’ He gives examples from the three countries Twaweza works in of how citizens have benefitted from access to information.
